Tweet 4 Shalit

Support IDF soldier Gilad Shalit:

On August 28th, 2009, kidnapped Israeli Defense Force soldier Gilad Shalit will celebrate his 23rd birthday.

But for the fourth year in a row, it appears he will most likely celebrate this important milestone far away from his home in Israel.

Shalit was kidnapped by Hamas in the summer of 2006 and has remained in captivity since.

Negotiations for his release are ongoing.

‘Tweet4Shalit’ is a virtual grassroots movement inspired by the struggle Gilad Shalit must endure daily as a prisoner of war and as a victim of Islamic extremism.

‘Tweet4Shalit’ is a 24 hour Twitter event in which thousands of supporters will sign onto Twitter to tweet the hashtag ‘#GiladShalit’ with the goal of making Gilad a top ten Twitter
‘Trending Topic’ two days before his birth (recognizing that his actual birthday occurs on Shabbos).

‘Tweet4Shalit’ is a single-issue campaign only to raise awareness and is not a political action group.

Social networking is a way to inspire change and raise awareness and we plan to do just that. We invite everyone, everywhere to spread the word about ‘Tweet4Shalit’ and join us on Twitter, all day (and all night) on August 26th, 2009, using the hashtag ‘#GiladShalit’

Thanks to the Jewish Internet Defense Force for organizing and planning this event

Free Gilad Schalit

Radarsite points out the following:

On 25 June 2006 Gilad Schalit was kidnapped. That was over 1050 days ago. There has been no word of his condition, no Red Cross visits, nothing. Just a handful of letters.

The world's press silently applauds this action. After all Gilad is just another Jew. And Jews are the worst people on Earth to them. So what if he is never seen alive again.

The Obama administration doesn't condemn this action. They reward it with a cash handout of $1.2 billion. Job well done?

But you have a voice. Let the Obama administration know that you do NOT support this action.

This appeal is coming directly from Noam Shalit, father of Gilad. Please don’t let him down. All it takes is a click.

We, the undersigned, call on the United States government to make its $300 million humanitarian aid pledge to the people of Gaza, conditional upon the Hamas leadership releasing Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, held in captivity for over 1,000 days.

Please sign the petition HERE and forward to your friends in Israel and abroad.

Gotta love them Czechs!

Ynet.com is reporting that, thankfully, the new EU Presidency is backing Israel:

European Union president, the Czech Republic, said on Saturday an Israeli ground incursion in Gaza was "defensive, not offensive" action.

"At the moment, from the perspective of the last days, we understand this step as a defensive, not offensive, action," Czech EU presidency spokesman Jiri Potuznik said.

Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg is leading an EU delegation to the region on Sunday, and Potuznik said the presidency will wait to see the results of that visit.

However, France condemned Israel's move to send ground forces into Gaza.
"France condemns the Israeli ground offensive against Gaza as it condemns the continuation of rocket firing," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Hat Tip: Wake Up America

The Jerusalem Post has a story about a surprise visit to Israel by New York City Mayor and his denunciations of the Hamas gang of murderous thugs.

Check out Susan's Wake Up America detailed post on the history of this recent conflagration.

This postest video below is of footage from the Netherlands, a country I visited in February and experienced first hand how Muslim radicals are taking over that embattled country:
